Given my well known fear of zombies, it’s kind of funny how utterly awesome I find Zombie Walks. The basic idea is fairly simple. You get a group of friends together, make some posts on local forums, and wander along a path. You start with 5-10 people in full zombie gear. The rest of the people wear some sort of signal (flower in their hair, duct tape X on their chest) that signals that they can be attacked and “turned into” zombies, with some fake blood, flour for face paint, and clothes ripping.
If you are particularly well organized, you can call a couple of pubs along the route and arrange for a drink special for people who show up in zombie makeup and moan.
What if zombies aren’t your thing? Well, pick something else that’s fun. Pirates are pretty easy to arrange, because you can get eye patches for cheap after haloween. Ninjas are great too, because almost everyone has a full-black outfit they can wear. Instead of swords, use cardboard paper tubes. You can also do cowboys (jeans, cowboy hats and boots), but that would work better some place that’s not Texas. No one here would get the joke.
If you want, you can make it some sort of ridiculous political protest- Zombie Rights, Pirates for Piracy, Ninjas Against Piracy.
You don’t have to limit it to pub crawls, either- I would love to see an Art Walk/ Zombie Walk.
Most states have a zombie walk, most large cities do as well. A little googling will take you a long way.

They are amazingly fun. Given that I’m terrified of Zombies and can’t even watch a trailer for a zombie movie, it’s REALLY STRANGE how much I love these things.
