Science That Needs More Exposure

Posted on 01 June 2009 by Seannon

This month I’m going to do a series of articles every day on way cool science that I think has the possibility of changing, sometimes even saving, the world. Most of the really cool science out there needs people to pay attention to it, fund it, do research on it, or just implement the things we already know.

The world is such an awesome, incredible, fascinating place. There is so much to see, to learn, and to do. I want to share with you some of the amazing things that brilliant people are working on that fill me with a sense of child-like awe and excitement. We are truly living in a glorious age, one of the golden ages of humanity. The sciences give us hope!

Grow your own air

Posted on 10 April 2009 by Seannon

There was a cool TED talk on growing your own air. It’s not the most exciting TED talk I’ve seen, but I went out and got some plants for the apartment after I saw it, and I’m waiting for the first check from the call center to buy a bunch of the mother in law’s tongue.

Grow your own air

I liked this video a lot, even though Kamal Meattle isn’t the most engrossing speaker. I went and got some plants for our house, and am planning on getting enough mother in law’s tongue for all three of us for the bedroom. I got four bromilliads in there right now, because they also aspirate at night, but they need more light than they’re likely to get in my room.
